Bolt Ejecting Problem
« on: October 01, 2007, 05:15:59 PM »
Hello,

I just bought a 700 adl in 7mm mag and the bolt works real well opening and ejecting with nothing in it and with a cartridge that hasn't been fired.  The problem is that after I fire a round the case seems to be somewhat stuck.  I open the bolt and try to pull back but it doesn't want to come and bring the case with it.  Has anyone else had this problem and what can I do to fix it?  I have oiled it and doesn't help.

You might have over looked the problem, it may be that the chamber is dirty or rough causing the brass to )stick) in the chamber, remember when you fire the rifle the brass expands in all directions and it could be sticking in the chamber, give the chamber a good cleaning and then try it if it continues have the chamber area checked by a compitant gunsmith.  HTH   JIM

Reloads or factory ammo? If reloads maybe they are way too hot. If factory then I agree with comments above on what to check for.

Thanks guys.
I am currently shooting factory loads.  I will run a brush and some patches through it to see if it solves the problem.  Gun was out of the box and did it first time I shot it.  Might be some grease or something it in from storage.

My Brotherinlaw had a 700BDl in 7mag that did the same thing. He ended up sending it back to Rem for repairs. They had to replace the barrel. I don't know what was wrong except something was bad wrong in there. You could pull the bolt handle up but couldn't pull it back to eject.
Give them a call before doing any repairs or alterations.
