Nc on my 700 bdl
« on: August 27, 2007, 07:28:16 PM »
Just mounted my new Nc Star Mark III 4-16X50 with rangefinding reticle on millet 30 mm rings and Leupold base. After shooting another Nc on my .17 hmr all summer I decided to give one a shot on the 7mag,it has all the bells and whistles for a target/hunting scope and Im really impressed with the clarity at 14x.I will post a report after sight in and again after a season in the field.

I bought a cheap NC star for a rifle, and it did have decent glass but what made me take it off was the repeatability after changing windage and elevation after I had it zeroed, it had none. Thats the most important thing to me at the end of the day, if a scope doesnt go back to zero, its useless. Hope you have better luck than I did my friend  :)

**price? Is that knob on top for illuminating the reticle?

I plan on puttin a pile of ammo through it b4 the oct 7 antelope opener.I have over 1000 rounds through the CZ with a different Nc scope on it without a single adjustment,so I already have one that withstands the S*** I put my guns through.I wont be playing with the elevation or windage during hunting season so thats really not going to be an issue until the next summer when i will be shooting more.I have had a Leupold come apart on me in the field so i dont think there are any scopes in my price range that are "bulletproof".The local dealer has this model for $209 but you can get them way cheaper online, probably 170ish with shipping.I have a simmons 44 mag that withstood 5 years of HARD use in the field and everyone tells me they are worthless, time will tell.Yes it has a green led that illuminates the range finding reticle, looks like somthing out of star wars when you turn it on,cant wait to use it in low light and spotlihting for yotes/critters.Here is a BLURRY pic of the crosshairs with the led on the lowest setting in complete darkness...

Hope you have better luck with the NC Star then my hunting partner did. He put one on his  300 Savage and tried to sight in with it. Power ring locked up and could not get enough windage adjustments to the left. He sent scope back and they sent another new scope. He still hasn't mounted it yet. I told him season is cumming up real fast so he better get it on and try to get it sighted in. Best of luck to you.
Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr

Just sighted it in and put 50 rnds through it.Shooting cheap hornaday soft nose 154s off of the bipod i got some relatively great groups. The lower right target was used to get it sighted in at 100 and the center and upper right groups were shot after going 5 clicks in both directions with the elevation and windage turrets and then returning it to zero.Cant wait to see what i can do with some accurate loads like ballistic tips or accubonds, they have always shot the smallest groups in my 7 mag.BTW that lighted reticle came in handy while shooting in the shade.
