Baby Moose
« on: February 09, 2007, 07:36:54 PM »
What does a baby Moose sound like?  It's strange but in all the years I have been here, I have never heard a baby Moose making noise.  The sound I am looking for is one that a baby would make if it was seperated from it's mama.  The more panic stricken the better.  What got me to thinking about this last year I had poor success trying to call in bears and wolves using the fawn bleat on an electronic caller.  I did get wolves to come in, but not close.  Cayotes did come in and so did foxes, but not bears.  I don't think a Fawn Bleat is the right tone.  Since a moose calf is about the size of a Herford calf on stilts could they sound about the same?  I don't think they would sound anything like a Whitetail.

Also Caribou?  What does a baby Caribou sound like?

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa  LOL did you get that? like i said its hard to type, i would look for a moose calling dvd or cd, todd orton is a world champion caller and i learned to call mosse from him, havent quite mastered the calf call but can do a pretty good long distance cow call.

I've only heard Bull and Cow calls.

just kinda picture a calf calling for his mommy, its kinda similar to a cow estrus call.  but be warned it can cause a cow that has bin seperated from her calf to come in thinking something may be attacking her calf.  i have tried to immate the sound to ring wolves in but hasnt worked thus far.
