Who is hunting with their 1377

I ask because it seems that most people dont seem to think it can get the job done. I use mine all the time for every thing from gofers to rabbits and they all expire in quick fashion and most of my shots are body shots. The last rabbit that lined up in my sights got a 7.9grn wadcutter broad side in the ribs at 15 yards it took one half step forward and collapsed. Heck I have even used it on ground squirrels  out to around 20-25 yards with good results using domed pellets.

 I know I can't be the only one out there doing this so lets hear some 1377 stories.

I also have taken tree rats with my 1377.  Using spiral pint .177 pellets, it does the job.

Roof rats.  Better'n traps or poison.

I swapped the barrel and bolt on mine for .22 caliber parts from Crosman. No other changes. I taken rabbits with it at 25 yards.

Hi Guys!
I just got my new 1377 today and bought a tin of Daisy flat nose pellets with it to start.

What pellet weights/styles work better in your 1377's? Are  round balls more or less accurate?

Any guidance will be helpful,first airgun in 40 years!
It seems to shoot very well and will be loads of fun.

I was using a convert a pell system in my T/C
but my wife(common sense) said that may not be legal in city limits.

Hey there:

Will be glad when air gun topics will once again be popular. I have a Crosman 1377 in .177. I haven't hunted with it yet, but man, is it accurate. I love the accuracy. Just been sighting it in, and shooting it a lot with different pellets to find it's favorite. So far, it likes them all.

Just going by sound of hit metal targets, it doesn't seem to have the power of my Co2 pistols, even with 10 pumps. I will set up my chronograph if this weather will ever cool down a bit. It's been miserable here in SW Louisiana, and shooting is limited to early morning from the front porch till late, late in the evening. Just too hot to concentrate, sweat in eyes, etc.

Just for the book, this is one fine piece of machinery. The cost is not megabucks, but it's worth every penny paid.

One more question, I saw on here, someone got a 22 caliber barrel and bolt from Crosman. I have been on their website, but haven't found out how to  buy this. I'd like to get one, and convert it to 22 caliber, since I don't see any 22's advertised by Crosman.

You can't buy spare parts over the Internet. You can only do it by phone. Look on the customer service page of the Crosman site for the phone number. Also while on the customer service page look for the link to on-line manuals and look at the list for pistol manuals. Get the exploded view parts list for the 1322 and you can find the part numbers for the barrel and bolt. You'll need the numbers when you call to order parts.

I try to shoot my air guns every day. You'd be suprised how fast your skills come back with daily and dedicated practice. I sure do miss Lawdog on here. He was somekind of knowledge and good help. Sure miss him

Oh, yeah I think it was worth it. What the .22 lacks in velocity it makes up for in "Thunk" factor!
I usually only pump about 4 or 5 times when plinking. Cans dance better when hit with the bigger pellets. Steel targets ring louder too.
The 1377 in .177 is great gun. Converting one to .22 makes it even better I think.

Thanks for the info and opinion. I like the 22's. In my rifles and CO2 pistols, the 22's have a bigger hit and sound. What they give up in velocity they make up in energy. Well, looks like I'll be getting one fixed up in 22 caliber like you did. One other question, is it a hard or difficult job to convert one, or an ole country boy gunsmith could do one ?

Let's get this air gun forum going good & hot. A lot of shooter's out there don't know what they are missing. Oh, yeah, I like my big boomer hand guns, but this air gun business is to me a great and economical shooting spree. Heck, you don't have the empty hulls to reload for the next day. No load searching for the best, most accurate load. Just buy some tins of everything they make, shoot em and log up the results. I am high on my "boyhood" again, living dreams in reality. I was a kid, had a Daisy BB gun, and brother had a Red  Ryder, we probably wore em out. Later, we got a Benjamin Pump, and wow, talk about big game hunters. We about killed all the sparrows out of the hen yard. They got fat on the family chicken's feed, and at nite, they'd roost in a magnolia tree. We took turns holding the lite, and the other would shoot. Now me and my brother are getting old, but man, the memories I have of the good ole days, they still make me happy.

Conversion is real simple. All it takes are a small allen wrench and flathead screw driver and about 15 minutes.

I am new to airguns.I bought a 1377 about 3 weeks ago.I have killed 2 pigeons at about 30 yards up in the beams of a warehouse I work at.I found out they are tough birds.I have to pump it 10 times to even get their attention.I have ordered one of Roy Weid's custom 1322's.I have checked this forum out before but it's not very active.We need more people. sj
