Talley Scope Mounts Question
« on: August 26, 2007, 03:48:38 PM »
Tried a search and only thing it came up with was for a Sako ..

Has anyone tried these for a Encore was Looking at a set today while waiting to buy a scope at Cabelas..
It will be mounted on a  45/70 barrel

Or am i better off going with the leupold Setup ?

Also thinking on a  Barrel in 375H&H or JDJ .. So if the Talley is tough enough for the 45/70 will it hold up to a 375 or what do you guys recommend..  Up till this year my hunting area was short enough i used the 45.70 with iron sights now that i had a Dozer comein and open it up i want to go with a scope..

Thanks Bob

I've used Talley rings on a CZ 550 Safari Magnum and they seem to be well made.  I've haven't used them on an Encore.

I tried Leupold QD rings/base on an Encore 375 H&H Mag. & they shot loose.  The non QD version might work fine.

I wouldn't use anything other than the Talley setup on my Encores.  Their one piece design is much more solid in my opinion.  I'm 100% pleased with all of mine.  The only thing you need to watch for is proper eye relief; since it's a one piece setup there are no adjustments.  I have never used the Talley's on anything bigger than a 300WM, but a bud has them on his .375H&H barrel with no complaints.  Brett
