hodgon SC powders

   I bought some 4831SC powder instead of the standard 4831. I know that the sticks are smaller but what else is different.

   The load data shows you can put more powder in your load, so there must be a difference.

Smaller grains pack better in a case than large ones. You can get more powder weight into the same size container. The advantages beside that is it flows better through a powder measure (thrower). According to Hodgdon's load manual (2006) the two are Ballistic twins, the only difference is the length of the grains (rods). H110 and WW 296 are supposed to be exactly the same, but rarely do they have the same maximum weight charge for the same cartridge and gun. There are too many little differences between lots of powders, primer reaction, how much air (space) etc. That is why you should always start low and work up. Good luck to you
