New folder
« on: September 02, 2007, 05:04:12 AM »
I was in Sportsman warehouse a couple days ago. I was looking for the Kabar Warthog. They didn't have the full size fixed blade model but they had the Kabar Warthog folder. It has a 3 inch AUS-8 blade partly serrated. The handle feels good and has good traction. It felt so good in my hand that I couldn't turn it loose ;D. This one is made in Japan and is very sharp. The blade looks like it would be a great skinning blade.
shot placement is everything.

  Is this it?

It looks nice, your right with that blade it should work well for shinning!!

I have gotten really comfortable with my BUCK fixed blade skinners to change. I bought a really nice Browning knife a couple years back. It had a simular look to your wart hog, blade out of symetry to the handle. Kinda like a bull dog...you know chest and head (blade) too big for the hind end(handle).  Any way, it did mork nice for the first couple deer. Then it needed sharpening, damn thing is so hard it s very difficult to get a good edge on it. Evven know. it sits waiting for my next sharpening session.....

I just cannot get it as sharp as is should be.

Deer season comes first and its getting pretty close. I am anxious to try several new knives this year as a broken foot kept me out of the field last year. I have two Buck-lite folders that have done most of my hunting chores for several years now. I also have the Buck skinner which i use for shinning bears and other bigger game.

I am a knife nut so whenever I get a gift from ant family member, its usually another knife. That's fine with me ;D
shot placement is everything.
