Which Scope
« on: September 03, 2007, 11:53:28 AM »
Hey guys.I need a scope for my muzzleloader.I bought it new last year at BPS on clearance for $99.It is a Traditions Lightning Bolt in 45 cal.I don't want to break the bank here so I narrowed it to these:Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 shotgun or rifle,Bushnell Banner 3-9x40 muzzleloader or rifle, maybe the new one with the 6" eye relief,Bushnell Legend 2-7 or 3-9x40,and finally one of the new Redhead with 92% light transmission.I hunted open sights last year but my eyesight coupled with cheap fiberoptics just won't allow it.Plus I want to pass this to my son who likes to hunt with me.Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I just mounted another Bushnell Legend 2-7x32 on a 30-30, great little scope, have two of them, the other is on a .444 Marlin H&R. The Trophy and Banner are good scopes too, I have both, but the Redhead muzzleloader scope is short on eye relief if that's a concern, I have the 3-9x on a .243 H&R. Of those you mentioned, the Legend would be my first pick.

You should look at the Mueller before you make your final decision.

I agree with Tim.  A Bushnell Trophy sounds like a good match for you gun.

Thanks guys.It looks like any one of these will work.I have been reading on the Muellers.Looks like a good deal for the money.I wonder which 3-9 to go with for this muzzleloader if I went with the Mueller.

Of the Muellers, I'd go with the 2-7x32 Multi-shot, great little scope if you don't mind the Illumination, which doesn't need to be on to still use the scope, the dot is just black instead of red. ;)
