HEYOOOOO! Old Noob here.
« on: August 28, 2007, 03:12:08 PM »
I used to be Watertrapper here and El Hefe on Trapperman. Trapperman doesn't seem to exist anymore????? I haven't posted much about trapping in a good long while but I've been plenty busy at it. So, NC guys I guess were coming up on a convention here in September. What's the date and will it be the usual location? Thanx!

El Hefe , how are the wolves doing in the northern part of your state?  Also do you get to trap in the areas of NC that  have those bvr that were planted years back from Wisconsin?

Where exactly are these wolves? Do you mean the Reds at the north eastern part? If so, I'm pretty sure in such a remote area they're fine. I've yet to see one though while driving the road there. That area is pretty much no-man's land around the Alligator river. My worry is that the niche they fill is the same niche that all these invading yotes fill and I worry that the yotes may be better at it and end the end win out. As far as beaver, I though originally all our beaver were re introduced from somewhere in the Mississippi river though I don't know any states in particular. Geez do we really need more beaver introduced? Don't get me wrong, I love them and love catching them but MAANNN! we have no shortage. I do a lot of ADC jobs, that's what gets me my hunting and trapping land. This year though I've picked up nice parcel for shooting a pair of coyotes (I'm in Harnett Co) that were stalking a landowner neighbor's calf. 2 .150gr mag tips put a stop to that. This guy had previously yelled at me about goose hunting on his leased land (I had owner permission) because he was afraid I'd leave my empty shells for the calves to eat. DUH (BTW, how does he keep them from eating rocks?)! He doesn't know me very well. Anyway after I showed him the dead yotes and told him the story he feels differently.
