Air gun oils????

I know i have asking this before but i email both crosman and daisy about what oil to use and i got this back. You need to use 20 or 30 weight non-detergent motor oil. and  Jamal -
   
You should only use Crosman Pellgun oil (a silicone based lubricant) to lubricate your Crosman 2200 rifle. Using an oil that contains petroleum distillates will damage the seals and cause the gun to malfunction. also i have hear all kinds of things about this. I use hopper 9 and i will keep usingg it.

I use Beeman MP-5 for much of my airgun work. Its not supposed to bother seals, leather, or wood. It is supposed to dry with protective film.  I like it so much I now use it on my firearms. 

I use it for cleaning the bores of my springer air rifles too and it works well.  I don't know  how it would work as a lubricant.

Hoppes might eat seals eventually - I really don't know but I think it has petroleum distillates in it.

that the point i have asked Daisy, crosman, and others and i get about 20 different answers.  it's petroleum base but who really know? that gun probby has had gun oil used in it for years.

I have a 33 year old Sheridan, a Crossman 2200M and a Daisy 990. I use transmission oil in all of them. The factory Sheridan manual calls for motor oil. NO problems.
