JREG,
please turn the caps lock off, it's hard to read!
I don't know if Burris makes a base or how good it is for the contender (though Burris does generally make good rings, I love their 22 rings). Many people here like the Warne or the T/C Steel(I say Steel because they also make an Aluminum one) Weaver type scope base. Then use Warne Maxima Rings (either QD-Quick Detachable or Regular). Some of us use the Weaver Aluminum Base and Warne Rings (though I do not have my muzzleloader barrel scoped, I don't think we are allowed to for muzzleloading season where I hunt). I also don't own a 30mm Scope, so I can't comment on that, you may be better sticking with Burris.
Seems like a lot of work to move your scope back and forth and mess up your sight in of your Winchester. 3-12x seems like a lot for a muzzleloader too. I realize you may be trying to saze a little money this season and are going to move the scope back when regular season comes in, but I personally would consider buying a quality scope (Leupold rifleman series comes to mind, uder $200). By the time you do all the swapping and resighting in, considering driving to the range and time wasted, you may be better off setting up both rifles. Anyway, just my opinion.
Wal-Mart here has a pretty good selection of T/C accessories like cappers, Bore Cleaner, etc., matter of fact, I need to go get some stuff.
