Our county Wildlife Unlimited has been sponsoring kids for this wonderful Michigan program for several years. Can't wait for this weekend. More than 20 kids signed up with WU this year. Our group provides the kids with license, range instruction, gun and ammo to use, if needed, and "guide service". We even pay for the processing of the venison. Kids are placed in blinds with a "mentor/guide" on one of many WU sponsored food plots thoughout the county. Many of these kids come from home situations that would make hunting difficult, aside from services offered by the county WU. Frankly, I think the adult participants have even more fun than the kids, and that's saying something!
And, by the way, kudos to Michigan DNR personnel for bending over backwards to make this weekend a positive experience for young hunters! The CO's in our country have been particularly helpful.
