7 BR
« on: February 22, 2009, 06:28:54 AM »
I am about to enter the BB phase of the game and selected the 7mmBR for this and half scale.  With components in the mail I am now seeking some suggested loads.  All that I have found were hunting loads.  I sent for 150 grain lead and Sierra 150 gr jacketed bullets.

Your input getting me started in FP was very helpful; I hope that I can count on some tried and true loads for this round.  I have a 15" Encore barrel on order.

thanks

There are many excellent loads for the 7BR.  It is a great chambering.  I use 29.5 grains of VV N-140 with a Remington 7 1/2 primer & Remington cases in my 10" MOA with Leadhead 148 grain cast bullets.

I shoot 168gr BS Custom BTHP bullets for my jacketed loads which doesnt do you much good for the 150's you have coming.  For the cast loads I shoot a 160gr TCGC from a Saeco mould.  Load consists of WSR primer, 26.0gr AA2015.  This load would probably work well for the 150gr cast also.  I also have shot the RCBS 145 SIL, which when cast from WW comes out at about 150gr.  I do not remember the exact charge but it was with AA2460.  Where did you get your lead bullets from? (leadheads).  Hope this helps.

thank you for the input providing suggested loads for the 7BR.

Yes, Leadhead is who I will support and try some jacketed as well.

There are suggested loads on his website but they didn't seem to cover his described bullet so i have note out to him.

All of the input has been helpful,

Thank you,

Ron

For Chickens, Pigs and Turkeys:Speer 120 JHP over 26.0 gr. of H322
For Rams and shoot offs:Nosler 150 SPBT over 25.5 gr. of H322
CCI 400 primers for both loads.
For Bolt actions....neck size only!
For break open actions....size to shoulder than use a .020 ring spacer along with full length sizer after fire-forming. Using neck sizer for break open pistols usually don't work after a couple of rounds...as a rule.
If brass can't be sized to shoulder, if possible, seat bullets to lands so as to let the (TC) action barely close.
Note: Once bullets are seated against the barrel leads...don't remove case because you will have a powder mess on you hands.
Warning: The suggested loads are just that....suggested! Please research loading manuals before using any load data that's freely given over the internet.
Other than that.....blast them critters down!!!
When starting and completing a project, here's something to remember;"I can't" really means "I won't"!

Wolftrap,

Thank you for the additional insight into this cartridge.  You time given to respond was appreciated.
