Here is my 308, what does your 308 like?
« on: September 01, 2007, 04:46:32 AM »
I now have my 308 set up. (thanks to the trades here)

However, it has not been shot since the factory.

I am looking for advice on factory ammo for now. Looks like I will go to the range this week. Any tips I can take with me?

It is a 308 bull barrel (factory fitted), with ultra varmint stock set, a 3x9x40 Leupold and a Harris 9" to 13" Bi-Pod.

It looks awesome, I hope it shoots.

Thanks for your help
Brian

Congrats, looks great, now get out there and make a range report for us!! ;D I've only shot handloads in mine, so I can't help out with factory ammo, but I bet Mac can when he gets online, he had one that shot really great with it. ;)

Well, it appears Mac didn't look at this, but he shot 168gr Federal Match ammo in his 308 bull barrel. ;)

Shot some handloads out of my 308 today. Used the 155grA-Max from Hornady. Think I have found a "new" favorite bullet!. If they make these in a factory load, I would try some!

Tim, it's not a Handi, but a Savage 110 Tatctical with a Redfield 6 x18 scope. 10 shots, 300 yards  3 3/8 inches. I used AA2520 powder.

I never handloaded the 308 barrel, but surprisingly it shot the ADI surplus 7.62 the best at 1-1/4".  The 150 Corelokt and the 168? Ballistic Silvertip was second at around 1-1/2" or 2".  Nothing to brag about but it killed my first deer.

;) Mine looks just like a standard Ultra. That will change here in bout a month when i put a 4-16x50 Pentax Gameseeker and change to the same Choate stock u have on yours. I am going to camo the entire rifle and scope brake it and put a bi-pod on for a heavy duty yote rifle. Plus I think this will be my last post here. It's been interesting but I do think my welcome here has been worn out so I hope u all enjoy and have a wonderful time living nad being happy. God Bless, Jess
