Stores in your area that have handi's
« on: March 13, 2010, 12:32:14 PM »
Here in Northeast Wisconsin there are not many handi's that have shown up in stores. I haven't been to the two local Dicks Stores though. While I have ordered a few here and there, most have came from GBO classifieds and the internet.

What are the stores in your area that stock some What state? What City?

None in my area so I've been buying online from Bud's and Davidson's and have them shipped to my local FFL dealer. Pretty good prices too!

Gander Mountain in Beaumont, TX. -  not many bargains there, but they have em and in good variety also.

Academy Sporting goods Stores, all over the Gulf coast, Beaumont, Houston, and In Louisiana.

JJ Pawn in Beaumont, if there are any to be had, Jim can get em.

I know its a long way from Northeast Wisconsin, but its the best I could do.

I may see one in a Dick's every now and then. I usually order everything from Bud's, my FFL lives 20 minutes from me, so it  is pretty convenient.

I checked Wholesale Sports yesterday, in the past couple months, all they had was a wood stocked Gardner made 45-70 Handi, they also had a syn stocked Ilion made 45-70 in the rack yesterday, $249.99 for the wood, $269.99 for the syn, that was it.  :-\

My local stores don't stock too many either. I generally just order what I want special.

Five or six places around here have them but you never know what they will have or when. Buds is only about 40 minutes or so away and Whittacker is about 3 hours. 8)

Gander in Winchester VA had a couple of new style syn stocked 44s for $250 today.  Had a couple of others with pallet wood and a youth .243.   Also had a youth .243 on the used rack for more than the new ones ???.  They never cease to amaze me at Gander.

Whittaker Guns, near Owensboro KY, always has a nice selection.  As does Uncle Lee's in Greenville KY, including some HX numbered 44 mags.

Hunters Haven in northeast ms usually have a decent selection, especially in ones over 35 calibur since the regulations change on primitive weapons. Actually most of the shops do.

In west, central Louisiana, Walmart, Academy, Bass Pro & most pawn shops have Handis in stock. 45-70's & 444's kinda hard to find in stores due to demand, other calibers fairly easy to get. Most people around here use bolt or semi auto's.

Here in Fairbanks it's Sportsman's, Wal-Mart, Frontier Outfitters, Fred Myers, and the Post Exchange on Ft WW.  The new Sports Authority I don't know about, but I don't do business with them anyway.  They are so paranoid they require that you give them a drivers license before they will open the gun case, even to look at a BB gun.

Dick's in Kingsport, TN & Wally World in Bristol, TN but it's hit or miss at both. Neither place has  knowledgable people behind the counter so you gotta know exactly what you want and point it out to them.

Prices are better at Bud's even adding the FFL fees.

The local dealer that i have been dealing with for years doesn't stock them anymore. He said there was no market for them in this area. I think that may be because he has been there 35 years and wants to sell the place and retire. At one time he would order one for me but not sure he will do that anymore.
