Need stock for Enfield No. 4 Mk I
« on: August 27, 2007, 04:02:37 AM »
I just won an auction on Enfield No. 4 Mk I.  It is Savage made with US PROPERTY marks.  No import marks.  The stock has been sporterized, but otherwise, gun appears as original (per the photos).  I will get to pick it up tonight.  I will need an original stock.  Anyone know of a good source of orginal style wood stocks for the enfields?

#1). How much you want to pay? #2). How authentic do you want to be?   First is always "Gun Parts" division of Numrich. They have alot. A LOT!. Service is fairly quick and you pay for good service (if they got it). After that it becomes a "hunt." SARCO, Stirling, NJ has tons of parts. Seems a couple decades back they were selling the whole rifles. Cheap. Sometimes the service is lame. You just have to work it out. After that, if you can find a hard copy of Shotgun News (or Gun List) there are advertisers that specialize in mil. surplus parts... Tom Forest? Springfield Sporters is out of business. Then there are the importers. Century Arms, St. Albans, VT. SAMCO Global Arms. I will link thru .303british.com to sources in Canada. Quite a find and dependable quality. Best of luck with your enjoyment.

I have a good representative of each of the Enfields with the exception of a Jungle Carbine.  The originals are VERY expensive and there are lots of copies out there that are offered as original when they are not.  This is my first Enfield of US manufacture.  I will buy a whole Mark IV, if I need to, just to get the correct stock.  I can alway sporterize one myself or make something fun with it.

Got the gun.  It is a Savage No. 4 Mk1.  It has the sporter stock on it.  I have found pieces and parts from some of the parts suppliers.  They add up just shy of a whole gun ($129.95) thru one of the C&R dealers.   I will keep looking for parts and hope to find someone who may have sporterized one themselves.

Any help is appreciated.

try e-gunparts.com which is the Numrich website. They have every thing under the sun. I picked up a stock for my Enfield and the stock was in decent condition.
