What Size Shaft For A 45lb. Recurve?

Hello,

I have a 45lb. recurve and can't find my arrows.  I had about 5 of them somewhere and that's all I really needed.  Now that they're lost for the time being, I'll have to get more.

I thought I used 1916 before.... not sure.  I do know I used Easton Classics.(wood looking)

Would 1916 be good for a 45lb. recurve?  If not, what other sizes would be good too?  I'd rather stay in the middle to light options instead of the heavy ones.

What is your draw length or better yet do you know the actual poundage at your draw length?

I started into the world of traditional archery with a 45# Bear Grizzly. At my draw length I was pulling 47#. An Easton 2016 shot great with 100 grain points and I also shot 2018 arrows with 125 grain points.

I usually need weaker spine than any of the charts/programs list. My PSE Impalla, shooting off the shelf, works best with 29" 2016s and 125 grain points. This is the only bow I have that the charts were close. 1916, 2016 or 2018 is your probably range in my view.
If you have a pull around 28" I would buy 2016s uncut and shoot them unfletched to see how they fly. They will most likely be underspined full length. I would cut an inch off and retry until they fly straight, then cut them all to the same length.

The bow says 45lbs. @ 28".  I don't know my draw length, but for compounds it's 29" and because of the way I lean into the shot with recurves, etc, I'd say my draw length for stick bows is the 28".

I'm thinking I used 1916 before, possibly even 2016, but am not sure and that's why I'm askin'.  LOL!
