Parts
« on: September 18, 2007, 12:45:18 AM »
I am having trouble finding some parts for a          Llama  Mod.  XV       I tried Numrich and they do not have what I need listed on the website.

Any suggestions ??

Thanks

#1). Hate to sound obvious or pendantic, but try Llama. They been around a long time and might still have some parts for anything.
#2). Brownells.com takes questions and is usually on top of the business. If they don't got it, they might know who does.
#3). Find a hard copy of Shotgun News--shotgunnews.com. Peoria IL now I guess. Used to be Columbus NE. In there there are advertisers who do parts. Some have good web sites and some don't. Navy Arms comes to mind. SARCO, NJ. Tom Forrest. I guess Springfield sporters went under. Don't recall the name of the man specializing in "sat. night special" parts, but might have some Llama. Early guns were, reportedly, "soft." All else fails, you can run an ad for what you need. I suppose Gun List might be as useful, but I got into SSN long before there was a gun list...
#4). Last, but not least, what can you substitute. Many, many copies of the 1911. Will parts from another gun "fit?" I guess Howa made their receivers to use Remington 700 bases... You just have to look/ask...  #2 is good for that. luck.

I'd like to suggest you give us a hint, maybe, as to what part(s) you can't locate.

I need a sear and a sear spring for starters.    It will fire and eject but the hammer will not stay cocked when fired.

How about a contact for Llama  I heard that they went belly up.

It could be that an amateur tried to "gunsmith" the trigger pull, and changed the angle between the sear/hammer, causing your problem.
You may not need new parts - just a 1911 gunsmith.

Pretty sure that no one modified it  as it belonged to my Grandfather and Uncle.  It was shot alot but it would not be like either one of them to go after it with a file.  I will try to find a 1911 smith to have a look at it if I cant find the parts first.

Thanks

Take it to a smith. The sear/trigger connection is likely worn out. It may be possible to fit parts for the 1911 but I just don't remember any more. The smith may also be able to fix the parts you have by re cutting the botches and re hardening.
