Wall tent...
« on: March 19, 2009, 10:52:31 AM »
I'm looking for a good wall tent.  Want a canvas one too. Gonna camp in Alaska with it, maybe even in the winter so I'm also looking for a good place to buy a tent stove.

Can somebody tell me the best place to look?

Cabela's is a good place to start.  they have a few models and even some that come with a deal on a stove.

I have been looking for a 14X14 or larger tent.
When I was in scouts one of the fathers has a wall tent.  He would bring cheap carpet and lay it as the floor and the tent was a lot warmer with it than with out.

Believe me you don't want a wall tent for winter camping in Alaska. Some places not even in the summer.

Do a search for the artic oven. They are made in Fairbanks, Alaska. Thats what you want if you want to keep it warm and standing up.

I have 3, plus a cook shack extension from Reliable Tent and Awning from Billings, Montana.  They are well built and have done some repair for me when I got some wind damage last winter, had to leave the 12X16 up all winter after deer camp.  Nothing serious, just a couple of stake loops tore loose and the stove jack got a 1" tear in it from the stove pipe.  It sat thru some pretty nasty wind and came thru better than I would have guessed.  DP
