Hi folks,

I'm hoping you'll help with the following:

What is a swivel hammer?
If I buy a Contender (G2?) carbine with a center fire bbl and a rim fire bbl, how hard is it to swap hammers?  I assume I must buy two different hammers-?
If it's difficult, then if I buy an offset .22LR bbl (On Target Tech makes these-OTTLLC), then I don't need a rim fire hammer, but then I need a "radical" forearm?
Does anyone shoot one of these?  If yes, how do you like it?
I don't care which is cheaper (but don't tell anyone :) ), I'm most interested in which is "easier" to set up and use.  The plan (so far) is to swap parts as infrequently as possible, though I only want to buy one stock and receiver.

Thank you for your info and thoughts,

G2s (as well as all other Contenders) have a selector on the hammer to choose rimfire/centerfire.  On all but the oldest Contenders it is a small knob.  When you buy the frame it comes equipped to handle all barrels that the factory makes to fit it.

The swivel hammer is an Encore part, standard on the Pro Hunter.  It is intended to eliminate the need for a hammer extension, commonly used on scoped Encores/Contenders.  On some guns the aftermarket extensions have caused missfires.

I hope this helps.

you can buy the new encore rimfire barrels. i think you just need the forarm and then you don't have to do anything to the firing pin.
