No Gunsmithing Mount??
« on: June 16, 2003, 02:03:06 PM »
I just put a no gunsmithing mount on a Indian 2A1 308 bought from sog that was on sale for 25 bucks with shipping it was 32 and I had my gun shop order so it cost me a few bucks more for handleing but I did not care as I had some credit coming from them so that paid for it. First of all it is chinese and I do not know if the others you see andvertized like B square is chinese or this is a Knock off from SOG. IT did work with some fitting and I had to replace the set screws with american metric as they were a lot bettter and harder steel and the socket part is deeper. I recomment getting replacement set screws for these mounts. I also dimpled the reciever where the one set screw went in front and made that set screw pointed so it bit into the reciever so it would hold better. I have heard of complaints that the mount tries to go sideways when the set screw in front is tightened. Yep that is what happened but the pointing and dimpling took care of that. It is rock solid now, But I can see where some guys if they did not do what I did would not be satisfied as it does take some monkeying around to make fit and replacing and modifying one set screw in front and replacing the other 2 also with good ones. It took some doing but I am sure that it will work fine now. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
