.45 ACP OAL
« on: September 17, 2007, 11:13:14 AM »
I loaded up a bunch of .45 ACP rounds the other day and set the cartridge OAL to 1.275" (as per my Speer reloading manual).  When I got to the range today they wouldn't even fit into the magazine (of my Para Carry C6.45) although I had no problem with some old Black Talon rounds I wanted to shoot up.  It turns out the Black Talon OAL is 1.211" and when I shortenedd the reloads to that dimension they worked just fine.  I'm wondering if anybody else here has experienced a similar problem with the .45 ACP round.

Dusty, I set my OAL for my .45acp loads to 1.250. This length works well in my 1911s, Sig, Glock 36, and Tanfoglio pistols. I had a Glock 21 that would not tolerate an OAL greater than 1.215. Got rid of the mdl 21. Hope you can find a common OAL that will work in all your pistols. It's a real pain to have to load different lengths in the same caliber.

I reload my Para P12-45 to 1.20" with my cast 230gr round nose.  Feeding issues are nonexistent.
