H&R serial numbers?

Do the H&R serial numbers fall in the same categories as the NEF ones?  For example, I found an Ultra Hunter that is H&R but has a serial number that begins with HJ.  Does that mean it was manufactured in 1994 or is there some exception?

Yes, the prefix letters for the serial numbers run in the same range and the years of manufacture are the same for NEF and H&R. The first letter is N for NEF, H for H&R and the second letter indicates the year of manufacture...<><....
