mounting a rear sighjt on my 0/u
« on: September 20, 2007, 02:59:36 PM »
I have cross posted this to the shotgunning/slug forum also

I have a Beretta 12 ga o/u that I would like to mount a rear sight on for deer slug shooting-- probably will only work for one barrel but that is all it takes.
I have a Williams fire site that is supposed to mount an any vent rib but my rib is too wide to accommodate the clamps.
I could notch to rib but i really don't want to mat my gun like that.
Could I use hot glue or automotive silicone gasket material or some other non permanent material to do the job.

any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks

I believe Williams makes those to fit the wider ribs. I'd give them a call and see if they might help. If not a triangular file can be safed on 1 side and used to open the dovetail hooks if there is sufficient material. Otherwise Brownells sells sights to fit almost any rib. Just measure yours and give them a call.
