New M1A
« on: September 17, 2007, 03:32:53 PM »
My wife just bought me a new Springfield M1A 'Loaded' for my birthday.  Does anyone have any pet loads for this rifle?  I've been reloading for about 30 years and prefer to use either BLC-2 or IMR 4895 powder.

Which bullet weights work the best?

I use a medium charge of RL-15 under a 150 grain Corelokt or Bronze Point. Groups are near 1" at 100 yards but this is a hunting load, not a competition load, my standard M1A likes this load.

Get a copy off the net of Glen D. Zediker's " Reloading for the Match M14".  Several recommendations for loads and great information on taking care of your rifle.

Mnswede,

Found Glen D. Zediker's " Reloading for the Match M14" and you are right, it is chocked full of great information.  When in the military I used to shoot the M14 competitively, but was young and mostly interested in how to use the rifle rather than what made it work.  I like Zediker's writing style, very informal and he adds humor too!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll put it to use.
