Don't see why not. Same basic frame just a different grip. I love my Birdshead.  KN

The question might be can your hand handle a 300 gr @ 1,100 with the birds head grip. I've only handled them, not fired them, but that grip felt awefully small to me.

The gun surely can handle it, the shooter....that's going to vary from person to person.

I have shot some hot 300s in mine. It is a hand full. I find it a lot easier to shoot down loaded to around 1000fps with a 230-250gr bullet.  KN

Mine Bites pretty hard with heavy loads!
It jumps every bit as hard as my 4 in.
model 29 S&W .44 mag.
And the 285 - 302 grainers don't seem to
be as accurate as the 230 - 255 grainers.
As far as the gun being able to handle it,
I don't think that is an issue to worry about.
I load a 255 Gr. at about 950 fps. for mine,
That should do quite nicely for anything that
needs to be shot here in Georgia.

I've been told the vaquero is actually stronger than the old blackhawk. Think about it...If you were to remove the rear sight on a blackhawk and measure the cross-sectional area remaining, you'd have a lot less there than on the Vaquero! Also the birds-head grip on a vaquero makes shooting heavy loads a dream. I put 320 grain hard-cast thru mine with a load of 23.5 grains of WW-296 in front of a CCI-350 mag. primer. "I like it"!!!

:D I have put about 500 rounds of fairly heavy handloads through my little bird'shead Vaquero .45 so far. The load was 22 grs. of WC820 behind a 280 grain cast LFN style bullet.
I find it more comfortable to shoot with this load than my 4 5/8" Blackhawk.
As always, Your mileage may vary.
