Does anybody know how bad the die-off from the EHD outbreak in Southwest PA will be?

Hi, im not sure about the die off rate, but the game commission says that if a deer is infected they are usually dead in about 36 hrs. And usually a good hard frost will destroy the virus. but they said that when the deer dies they will most liely be found near a body of water.

We have dead deer everywhere around here Beaver county,  seems its the old ones and very young ones, you can smell them as you drive the creek bottoms. I have not heard or seen the pgc in action around here.It says very little on there site, heck they just want to sell doe tags. Oh well lets see what the season brings i am sure another record season. This warm weather isn't helping. Today (10-8-07) it was 88 degrees "out there". That's way too warm for this time of year (MPO). We need a good heavy frost to kill the heavy weeds and the bugs that carry this disease. Hopefully, some cold weather will come soon.
