vertical stringing followup
« on: September 24, 2007, 04:51:22 AM »
I wrote earlier about some problems I was having with vertical stringing in my ultra.223. To refresh, I had o-ring floated the forearm and was experiencing vertical groups. Went to the range this weekend and started with some Black Hills 77gr. loads.  The first 3 shots were in perfect vertical alignment 2 inches apart!  I took the forearm off and just snugged it back, double checking with paper to see if was binding.  What an improvement!  Groups with the same load were now under 1 inch at 100.  Shot 7 different factory loads from 45 grains to 77 and all were under 1 1/2.

Just goes to show that the o-ring works, just don't over tighten!  As the experts on here have mentioned, consistency is important!
