Yes I ground and polished about .004 off the whole length but that was not the problem.
I just got the ejector working the problem was the way the cut was made in the receiver to hold the spring it is 7/32 and I drilled the hole after center punching using a transfer punch of that size and it centered it nearly perfectly the problem is the hole I think hole is slightly tapered and the liter cap was not seating all the way I made the cap a little smaller and flattened the edge a little near the breach this let it seat all the way down and move freely it will now kick the shells over my shoulder. I will get some more pictures tomorrow but it will be Friday before I can post. I have to take Mom in for a check up tomorrow after her Knee replacement  two weeks ago. She is 80 and her rehab specialst says she is doing great.

My breach on the shotgun stub was actually pretty pretty square less than a .001 the lock up on this is real good you cannot pull a .0015 ribbon gage out when closed I don't have a .001 so I don't know what it really is. The chamber is cut so a go will close no problem and no-go will not even try to close. The ejector cut is a weired size like .205  there really isn't an end mill that size. And I am like you all I have for a mill is a milling attachment for my South Bend lathe But it did a pretty good job. I will now work on the forend stud. I have an idea on using the one off the old barrel.
Well I have rattled long enough good night and may god bless you all.

The caliber is 6mm-223 or 6X45 which ever way you want to call it.

I have a 6mmx223 IMP in a Sako 461....My kids have shot many deer with it and I have killed a lot of coyotes with it.  For the most part, I just buy quality commercial .223 55 gr reloads, pull the bullet, dump the powder, expand the neck, put  the powder back in, seat a 55-58 grain 6mm bullet in it.  I use 6ppc dies now although i have used cut off 243 dies in the past.  Lost my 6mmx223 IMP dies in a move a few years ago. That should be a lot of fun.

Quick the lifter dimension that I recorded from a Brownells lifter are overall length .175  tip length .145 head thickness .030  head diameter.209  tip.125 with a rounded end. I cut my head back to .195 though you might want to finish the FAQ you started on this subject.
Here is a picture of the breech end of the project after being chambered.

Here is the forend mounting it is the one off the shotgun barrel I bored it out to fit then set it up and drilled it through with a #7 bit and tapped it all the way though with the 1/4-20 tap  I then put it on and fit the forend to it and the frame then ran a 1/4-20X1/4 set screw down against the barrel put the forend screw in and it was good to go. I believe Larry did something similar. This way the forend is centered.

The barrel stud idea is better than my barrel band I would say, mine ended up with a 5/16th forarm screw because of the size of the set screw in the collar I used.  I will remember your solution for my next project.  Larry

Here is a picture of a group I shot today it was shot at 100 yds. I had some trouble with it not settling down I finally put a fair amount of forend pressure on it and it has really started to settle down this is a 75 gr Hornady Vmax with 24 grains of Varget behind it, It is no one group hole but it will do what I want to do. I have stumbled onto a load for the 90 gr Nosler BT that I need to shoot a little more I was testing for pressure signs and had two rounds go into the same hole at 100 yds but I hadn't load a third round it was 24 grs of IMR 4895

Very nice! I just love reading and looking at these types of projects.

Did you bed the forend, or leave it free floated so to speak? I have a couple unrelated projects in mind, but mine are in the muzzleloader and shotgun arena. Both you and Larry keep up the good work!

I spot bedded the very end of fore end with J B weld with card board shim in behind that spot to get the extra fore end pressure I wanted, seemed to work.
