scope mount question
« on: September 23, 2007, 06:39:42 AM »
New to this forum.

I have two NEF rifles and one accessory barrel.

.223 REM, synthetic, bull, Burris Signature, Bushnell E-3200 10x40.
.17 HMR, synthetic, bull, Burris Signature, BSA Sweet-17 6-18x40.
.17 HM2, synthetic, bull, Burris Signature, BSA AirRifle 3-12x44

Have browsed the threads and seen a number of Handi's with mounted scopes.

I've noticed that many have not used the forward mounting slot on the on the factory-supplied rail - even though the scope tube appears to have enough room for wider ring placement.

Is there some benefit to NOT using the forward slot?

Welcome to GBO. The front slot is on the unsupported part of the rail, I use it when I need to, but prefer to mount the scope on the supported part when I can, some epoxy bed the scope rail including the unsupported end, just a matter of preference. Please read the FAQs and Help sticky, lots of info in there including info on scope rails, there's also a link to a thread with about 4 pages of pics of Handis!! ;)

Welcome to the wild world of Handi's , as Tim said it has a lot to do with the amount of support that is needed , that is one reason that i like the Ultra Rail , it comes with a set screw that acts like a jack stand for the front of the rail .

I also us the Weaver rail but install my own screw to solve the support problem .
