Has any one had this happen? As you shot the barrel starts to turn to about one o'clock and it stops there. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jason

I have had 3 Ruger 44mag that the barrel turned, all were repaired and seem to be ok now. You will have to contact the Ruger in AZ. Do a Google, they are C/S friendly. I have a 5.5 target and it is one of the finest 22 I have.

I had a MK 2 that did that. I talked to a tech from Ruger that said it did not harm anything. He said they would repair it free of charge, but he also said I would never be able to get it apart again for cleaning after the repair. I trimmed some pieces of metal from a pop can and put it in the recess on the barrel where the lug from the frame goes and it eliminated the play. I have also read where people have squeezed the lug on the frame down very slightly to get rid of this play.
Edited to add:
I also installed a trigger shield on that gun which was just a thin piece of metal that went up into the recess on the barrel and extended back under the chamber and covered the trigger mechanism and protected it from fouling. This got rid of some of the play put I still had to add pop can metal.
I cant remember where I ordered the shield from. If one had the pattern for it he could cut one from a pop can.

Is this problem on the heavy bull barrel or the light one? I owned the Mk. 2 bull barrel for 14 years and it was rock solid, bought a Mk. 3 a few months ago.

Chris it is the bull barrel but Ruger is going to fix it for free so can't complain to much I guess.

I bought a used MK2 that had a loose barrel....it rattled when shaken! I asked the seller about it and he replied that he had never noticed it
I shimmed it tight with a pop can and made a blast shield at the same time.
