Ruger M77 Mk2 question

Am wanting to paint the synthetic stock.  Walk me through taking the stock off.Thanks for the help!!

  Read the manual.  If you don't have one, you should.  Call Ruger and they'll send you one. 

  For now,download the manual from Ruger's site.

Turn the rifle upside down.
Open the floor plate.
Remove 3 screws, one at the front of the floor plate, one in front of the trigger guard, the last behind the trigger guard
That should be all there is to it

yes that is it. when you put them back on be sure to put the amount of torque as suggested, also consider haveing the barrel floated

When I reassemble I snug the front, snug the rear snug the middle then torque the front to (I think) 45 ft lbs

the front screw is what tightens the action's recoil lug. Just fyi Info
