6.5 X 55 0n a 95 bolt?
« on: September 29, 2007, 03:35:03 PM »
Now that I have a 95 chilean action and bolt. I am wondering if using an Adams and Bennet  Barrel in 6.5 X 55 do to the case head size of .279 verses .273 on the 7mm mauser.

I used a Loewe built Chileno action (1895) and a Swedish 6.5 X 55 barrel.  I measured and checked my bolt face and did not have to open it up.  Another solution is to use US manufactured brass and you should not have to open up the bolt face.

Ok I was thinking that it wouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the info.

I built this rifle some years ago, I forged the bolt, used a Dayton Traister safety, Timney trigger, drilled and tapped the receiver, used a M38 Swedish barrel, headspaced the action to the barrel, set the barreled action in a Fajen stock which was then glass and pillar bedded.

I'm making this rifle as a light weight sporter for my son. I'm thinking 6.5X55 would be a nice all around caliber on this action from coyotes to elk.
