I have found that the barrels Midway offers (A&B) are of good quality. The barrels are a little rough inside, but most are air gaged to within .0002" . I polish mine. it shortens the break in time considerably. Selection is limited, but they cover most bases pretty well from small varmints to the big boys (35 Whelen). Prices are in the $130 range, but sometimes you can pick them up on sale for less money. I bought a SS fluted barrel + a barrel wrench for $100. Midway is offering a few Shilen barrels now. They suffer from the same problem of limited selection and barrel weights. If you can find one that suits your needs they are a good buy. Savage shooter supply offers barrels as do several other makers now. E.R. Shaw, Pac-nor, Shilen just to name a few that can be ordered in different chamberings, twist rates, barrel contours and some even offer special rifling profiles.
