fleshing knifes?

Has anyone tried using a strand of wire to flesh hides??? I worked up a good sweat on a coon with a traditional fleshing knife and thought of this idea after the fact.

 I have my doubts as to the usefulness of wire for fleshing.Fleshing with a fleshing knife just takes practice(like anything else) a Good fleshing knife make the job a lot easier.
