H & R SB2 Ultra .22-250
« on: September 25, 2007, 02:03:52 PM »
I recently found this forum and was wondering if anyone would be able to help me locate a rifle I once had.  About 12 years ago I had a H&R SB2 Ultra .22-250 in curly maple w/ a Pentax scope.  This was my first rifle and many yotes fell to it.  Upon entering college I had to sell it (along with other toys) and I really miss it now.  I have a Mini 14 SS .223 but I would rather hunt with the H&R.

I've seen alot of beautiful rifles on this forum and I suspect that I will own several H&R's now that you all have rekindled my love for these rifles.  I'd really like to own the .22-250 again, but I just can't find one.  Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to GBO, Cade! The 22-250 is available but not in curly maple stock, that would be an aftermarket stock from GSI, see their replacement stocks. One that might turn your head is the laminated thumbhole Ultra Varmint 24" fluted bull barrel from RR.... if you're right handed. ;)

I've got one of the checkered curly maple stocks on my 204 Ruger, got them on ebay a couple years ago.

Tim- Thanks for the quick response and links.  I am a lefty so I don't think I could justify spending $305 and then ordering a replacement stock and forearm.  Thanks for the pic of your 204, it is what mine looked like.  I'll probably bump this thread a few times to see if I get any other responses.  I may have to check out the local gun shows and talk to dealers who may be able to locate what I'm looking for.  I guess the .223 could be an option also.  Again, thanks for the help.

Another option would be to get a 1999 or newer handi in any caliber and send it in to the factory to get the barrel and/or stock you want. Thats if you dont mind the wait. You could sell the barrel and stock here in the classified section to help supplement the cost. Or you could watch the classifieds for an action to send in. Just a thought.
