Guess what followed me home today?
« on: October 10, 2007, 09:08:26 AM »

It looked so lonely just setting there in the guncase all by itself. It had that hang dog look like it needed someone to take it home with them so I let it talk me into bringing it home with me. Heck I was just there to pick up a rifle I'd bought from a GBO member and the value seemed about equal and I figured what the heck I'll bet I can swap the rifle for the revolver and not have so much weight to tote out to my truck. I asked and sure enough it worked out I could trade for it so I did.  ;D

I told them that might have set a new world record even for me for trading off a gun I had just acquired. Less than five minutes and perhaps not more than two minutes from the time the rifle became mine it was no longer mine. Yup I think that's a new record even for me.  :o

Dunno the correct designation fer it but it's a .32 H&R Magnum Single Six with a 4 and something inch barrel and no adjustable sights. It's a Vaquero style. I think those purdy white grips are what drew me to it.

NICE!!

Aren't those called "Baby Rugers"? Not sure if that's just a nickname. I know I read that term around somewhere. They have a slightly abbreviated gripframe, yes?

That is a nice looking package. Those grips do really look nice. Please update as to how it shoots. There is one in a case down the road here.

And, good to hear someone is faster than me at trading things off... :)

You can't be serious. Me shoot a Ruuggggeeerrr?  :o Hey it's in the stack with the other 12-15 or so as yet unfired guns waiting for my attention. I'm not even sure if I have any ammo, cases, loading dies or what left as I've not owned a .32 H&R mag in at least 20 years. Perhaps one day but not today and likely not even this year.

Hey iffen I don't bring one home from time to time how can I keep on talking about how bad they are?  ;D I dunno it was purdy so I brought it home. Maybe I'll make a shadow box for it and hang it on the wall in my office.  ???

Heck, if you buy enough of them you might get a good one.  It sure is purdy though.  Send it on up, I'll let you know if it's a shooter or not.

Don't shoot it, Bill ! you will have to start saying : I don't USUALLY like rugers, or single actions, BUT....
that is gonna take a lot of typing time...
two minutes, that is down to professional trading there....
uh ... was it a nasty old ruger you traded off ?lol

That's probably what I should do is send it up and let you and Lloyd wring it out for me. I'm sure it would then come back home with a nice action job, some scrimshawed grips and ya'll could tell me what loads it liked best. Just think of the time, work and effort that would save me.  ;D

Heck I've still not shot the Super Single Six convertible .22LR./.22 magnum with 9.5" barrel I bought a month or two ago for for that matter the dang Browning Buckmark I've had for 3-4 years or more. I'm just not getting out to my range often enough and seem to be doing most of my shooting at the skeet range these days.

Nope Dan it was a Remington 700 ADL .243 I had bought from mjbgalt as an impluse buy. I already have more rifles than I have time to shoot and at least the little Ruger doesn't take up as much space sitting waiting its turn to go to the range. 8)

What I really need to get me out shooting the handguns and rifles more is a new shooting partner. Mine died some years back and it seems going out to shoot alone just doesn't have the appeal to me that shooting with him did so I don't do it very often. At the skeet range you're always shooting with someone else on the squad with you. Shooting alone just reminds me how much I miss my old best friend and long time shooting partner.

Lloyd would probably run out and kill a bison with it too.  (after the trigger was done of course)
