old ithaca lever action .22
« on: August 25, 2007, 01:37:45 AM »
Father in law passed down lever action .22 from ithaca (based on the barrel engravings) for my 2 boys. Very nice shape after a thorough cleaning. Any word on when this guns was produced? Or at least where to look on the web. The serial number is still there, made in the usa is also there. Appears to be functional, but the gunsmith will be the judge before my boys even hold it. Anyway, thanks in advance and keep your powder dry.

Which type Saddlegun is it - the M49 martini-type, single-shot, M49R repeater or (not likely) the M72R repeater ?

The M49's were made first by Ithaca from 1961-1978, the 49R between 1965-71, and the M72 by Erma in Germany, 1973-78

I have a model 72 Saddlegun , great little Shooter and lots of fun, Its a little beat but I carry it in my truck mostly. Before my eyes went south, I could hit anything with this gun.
