Remington Titanium Action
« on: August 22, 2007, 09:26:32 AM »
Does anybody know if the Remington Titanium Actions can be purchased.....or do you have to buy one of their rifles to get the action???  If so if you know a source / approximate price I'd appreciate the info.

I have been told numerous times that you have to buy the complete rifle to get the action.I was planning on building a custom using the TI action and with the price of the rifle plus the price of custom work it was going to be outrageous. Are you looking for just a lightweight 700 action or does it have to be the titanium? If you are looking for a lightweight action you can always buy a Mountain rifle and strip it for the action.Hope this helps.

Im not sure on just the action, however Remington sent me one of the titanium rifles in 7-08 in January and it sure is a sweet rifle.  Im sure you could sell the thin barrel and stock to help reduce the costs some but for a factory rifle it sure is nice.   JIM

tjkcanavel...There is something about the Ti Action / Rifle that just fits me.  I can't hold one at a gun store without it automatically jumping to my shoulder...everything fits so nice.  My problem is that lately Ive been snakebit when buying rifles.  They just don't shoot accurately...at least to the level I am looking for.  Im afraid that I could spend 2 grand on a Remington Ti Rifle, then would have to put another $500 blueprinting and squaring the action, bedding etc. to make it shoot.  For that kind of money, I was hoping I could buy an action and have a custom built lightweight.

Appears that buying the action is not an option.

Jim...if you are testing the titanium 7 - 08 I'd be interested in how well it shoots accuracy wise.

Silvertip:  I have only shot it enough to sight in the scope which is a bushnell 2X7 elite, I was using hornady 140 gr. reloads and shot abt 20 rounds in 2 shot sequences, 100 yds. on a breezy day in the neighborhod of 1 in groups, wire brush between the 2 shot fireings, I plan on using some 120 gr. loads as I have a older model 7 that shoots them like the world is on fire and would hope that the Ti will do the same, If I had paid for this rifle I would still be as happy with it as I am, at one time I had every centerfire BDL remington made from the 17 Rem thru the 300 Win Mag. then started collecting Rugers the same way b-4 they went to the mark 11, I will try to post some more on the Ti as time go on I can shoot out to 880 yds off of my deck here at the place so I do plan on seeing what it would do as a Antalope rifle, My Dr. has asked about it for a goat hunt and I may loan it to him and see if he has anything good to say about it, he has money but like someone said we are FRUGAL with it.  JIM

Jim, you better get that 7-08 out this fall and see how it does in the game-fields.  I would think the combo of a lightweight rifle like the Ti and a sweet low recoil 7mm-08 would be a deadly combination.

Silvertip :  Those are exactly my plans, even though I hunt out of a elevated stand I really dont need a rifle this light but what the hay, I have been a fan of the 7-08 for many years and now feel like it will serve me again as well as the model 7 did, I still have the model 7 however I have completely re-done it and only rerely use it.   JIM

Silvertip :   I had the rem. ti 700 in 7-08 this weekend with both 140 rem. and the rem 120 hp. at 100 yds. they both shot to exactly the same point of aim, the wind was quite brisk and I thought it might effect the little rifle it didnt, I plan on trying some of my loads just to see if there are any changes but havent so far, my son and grandson were anxious to set their rifles both Bp and regular for the up coming season,  BTW bothe the 120 and 140 are at the 1 in. mark so I really dont expect a great improvement with my loads, but it is a good feeling to know that it will do as well as it did with just plain walk into any store and get some plain old remington ammo in that caliber.   JIM  BTW while we were doing the shooting we had 3 deer walk across the back pasture just looking wondering why we were making so much noise on a Sunday afternoon.   JIM

Charles :  Both loads were factory loads, I have been vary busy this year and havent worked up a load but with it doing as well as it is with factory I might just leave it alone, I bought out all the rem., 7-08 ammo a gunshop had when they went out of business.   JIM
