Scope for a .375 Win
« on: June 12, 2003, 03:00:44 PM »
I purchased a 14" stainless .375 Win barrel last year for the main purpose of deer hunting.  Being the cheap bastard that I am, I removed a Tasco PDP3 red dot site from another handgun and installed it on the barrel.  I like the scope for close ranges, but am planning on using the barrel to deer hunt at longer ranges.  I am going to purchase a scope for the barrel and was wondering what some of the favorites would be (I would prefer a fixed-power scope).  Thanks, in advance, for your replies.
How'd you like a peek at my 14-incher? (Contender, that is)

I have a 12 in. in 375 Win. With a 2X Leupold. All I have done is load work. At 50 yards I get a group of 3 shots, you can cover, with a quarter. I am going to use it this fall for deer. 2X is perfect, for hunting. Over 2X the scope moves around 2 much, in the woods.

:D  I have been shooting 375 for several yrs. Mine is a 14" s/s with break .It has worn a 4x swift scope from day one. Mine is shot in for a 100yds. It will hold a 21/2" group at that distance all day long as long as i do my part. Swift scopes are very good & they are not pricey at all.  :P

I have a Leupold 2x sitting in the safe for mine.  Will mount it as soon as the big brown truck arrives with my base.  All of my deer hunting barrels wear 2x scopes.  That is the most power I personally can use and not notice the shake.  All my shoots though are 50 yards or less and I do not use a rest, so shake can be a problem for me.
