My daughter shot a Black Bear that ran from the bait site. Her husband, one of my sons and I went to help her track the bear. The blood trail was like usual for bear, very light. After 60 yards or so,the blood trail stopped. We were in an alder swamp with tall grass and there was a large area trampled flat ahead of us, then more blood. We continued. Now blood was all over the ground and brush. Finally at the far end of the trampled area was the bear. Well at least part of the bear. The head and shoulders were there as were the hind quarters. Everything in between except for rib cage and spine was gone. Timber wolves beat us to the bear.
