First match of the year!

Woo-hoo!

Shoving off in a few minutes for my first fired (highpower) match of the year. I'm pumped. I coached a couple new shooters thru a match a weekend or two ago but didn't get to shoot. This time, another club is hosting the match and I get to shoot!

I've been practicing 2-3 days a week with this new-fangled Rock River DCM gun and it's a dinging mother, lemme tell ya. We'll see how it all shakes out, but I'm looking forward to a good time. If nothing else, I get to spend Saturday hanging out with my shooting buddies instead of hanging curtain rods around the house - what's not to like?

Well, what was it about the best laid plans of mice and men ... ? Thanks for the encouragement josegrande! Much appreciated.

The first match of the year had to wait until this past weekend but it lacked nothing, despite the delay. First match in nine stinkin' months.

Shot an 800 agg at Butte, MT under warm, cloudy skies, 80 degrees. Sweet! My sighters lied to me at 300 and I shot an angry snarl 9 o'clock in the 9-ring the first string. 90-0. Damn. Ended up third Master overall in combined Service/Match rifle but the big realization (and it pains me to have to say this) is that the new breed of M16 service rifles just plain, flat out shoot! Even at 600! OK, ESPECIALLY at 600!

Get one while you can! Now, what to do with all this M14/308 gear ......

Yep,them dang black rifles have really started ruling the roost in Hi-Power.

I'm even more old-fashioned & contrary than you. I still shoot an M-1 in God's own cal. 30-06. :grin:
