The barrel is rifled, has a removable choke tube and only a bead front sight. Some members have had fair 45 Colt accuracy with a scope installed.

i was just wondering what kind of group could be achieved at say 50 yards. i'm guessing the choke has to be removed to shoot .45 ammo

I have a TC Contender with a 10" 45/410 barrel, lousy with the 45's, but really shoots well out to 25-30 yards with 3" #6's............Handi probably about the same..........

I had my 45/410 Survivor D&T'ed and shot it some with a few different handloads I had laying around. I even shot a few black powder loads through it, the best I could do was about 3" at 50yds and I gave up. I sure would like to try a new dedicated 45lc barrel though. The 45/410 is designed to shoot a 3" 410 shell which make the throat very long. It would be fine for plinkin' and makes a nice light "woods rifle" but mine is a compromise at best. The 45lc in a 20" bbl should be a legitimate 50 to 150yd deer ctg. but the combo barrel is marginal accuracy wise in my opinion.

I have 2 of these. One blue and one stainless and they are both tapped for a scope. I have found pretty good success using 220 gr .456 bullets that are actually conicals for a Ruger BP revolver.  Off rest, I can get 1-2 inch grps out of them @ 50 yds.  I am probably just spitballing here, but my guess is that even with the bullet jump, the bullet is getting stabalized well enough as it is really biting the shallow rifling.

I also have the 45LC barrel and it is just as you said... a longer range cartridge out of that barrel.  Either way, it's a fun cartidge.
