The immeadiately post 1964 M70's were cheap looking. They had a poorly designed stock. Fit & finish were not as good as the pre 64 M70's. Controlled round feed was still a big deal to most riflemen and the post 65's were push feed. Jack O'Connor wrote blistering reviews on them and eventually Winchester pull their head out.
