 Could someone please tell me what rifle I have? I am thinking of having a new trigger installed, but need to know what type of mauser action it is. The only markings I can find on it are on the barrel. It has "NAVY ARMS CO: RIDGEFIELD, N.J. U.S.A." on the top of the barrel near the center. Back near the chamber, centered on top it has "CAL270W". The only markings on the receiver are a 4-digit serial number, and some strange markings underneath which looks like some foreign language.
 I got this rifle as an inheritance from my ex-father in law. I don't know any info about it since he died after my divorce from his daughter, and she doesn't know anything about guns. At least she respected his wishes and gave me the gun.

It was imported/rebuilt by Navy arms it is cal 270 Winchester. Can you post some pictures for the markings. If those markings are Cyrillic then it could be Turkish Yugo or Chec. Does it have a date or crest still on it.

The main differences in Mauser's are by type. The 98's are made by many companies but fall into 3 basic categories. Standard length with the large ring, short length with either a large ring or small and the intermediate action. These were all large ring, I think... Length is measured from center to center of the action screws. The intermediate length action is just about the same over all length but the screws are an intermediate length... That's because the front ring is longer than the norm. These are very unusual so don't be too concerned.  There are Mauser's other than the 98 and the 98 can be identified by the presence of a third locking lug on the bolt body. It is in reality a safety lug only and carries no load unless the action has already failed. While there are other differences to be sure that's the easiest to explain and identify.

If it's a .270, it's on a full-length action, aka the Mauser 98 - and any aftermarket trigger for the Mauser 98 will fit.
The only minor fitting that may/may not have to be done would be to the width of the trigger slot in the trigger guard - it may be too narrow for a newer, wider, trigger fingerpiece.

Any new trigger housing's going to have to be fitted to your rifle's receiver bottom, and then the trigger adjusted for weight of pull, etc.

I recognize the arabic numerals "2" and "3" stamped into the underside of the action.

That sorta verifies that it is some sort of Mauser 1898 action made for a middle eastern country, probably Turkey, Persia, Egypt, Iraq, Syria or such.  They all use the same arabic numerals.
