350 Rem Mag shortened

What is need to shorten up a 350 Rem Mag to 1.625 in length? Is there a Die set out there?

How much you want to spend? ch4d.com, huntingtons.com, Hornady, Redding, any will make you a custom set of dies to do about anything for a price... And it won't be your milk money, although milk is going up too... Any local machine shop or man with a lath could probably do it. It is the hardening that gets costly.

Or you can cobble up an assortment of dies, this is a bit short, and move things that way. Making .270 WCF out of .30/'06 is legendary. 7 Mauser and .300 Savage less well known, but it has been done. 7.62x51 NATO is now available from 243 up. .260. 7mm/08. .33. .358.

So it comes down to your budget. Take a pocket full of money to a machinist or hit the gun shows and collect enough used dies to get it done. !! luck.

I am not sure what you are asking ? Do you want a wildcat based on a shortened 350 Mag, if you are looking for something like discussed in the Indiana Deer Rife post it can be done. The least expensive way I know to do it is to use a standard 350 Mag sizing die and cut it off to the head diameter of the donor cartridge. Let me try to explain what I mean, Using the 350 Mag as a example if you want it in the ballpark of 1.6 the head diameter will be something near .500 to .504 so you need a easy to obtain case with that diameter to form your shortened version on. What comes to mind is a 284 Win. 376 Steyr,
45-70, I don't know of a belted case that you could use. Once you decide what casing you are going to base your wildcat on then you can start experimenting with forming cases with your shortened die until you find what works best for you. When you get it worked out to where you can form good sample casings you can use them to set the head space on your barrel with a standard 350 Mag reamer so that your new formed casings head space on the shoulder.  I have 3 of my own ( wildcats) all rimmed cases 30-30, 30-40, 45-70 and they have all worked great. After thinking about the 284 Win. it would work but your case length would be quite a bit less than 1.6. Just for another idea, you could also make something similar using a shortened 35 Whelen die and forming it on 35 Rem., 30-40 Krag, 445 Super Mag or others with a head diameter of .455 plus or minus. This is just a idea of how to do a simple wildcat without the expense of custom made dies or reamer.
