Encore Question

Howdy Ya'll.

New to this forum and have a question. Picked up an Encore in trade. .50 Cal muzzle-loader, stainless with laminated thumb-hole stock. Nikon 3x9 stainless scope. Gun has been shot little if any. Beautiful gun, but I have lots of guns and don't really need another .50. Anybody got an idea as to what this might sell for on the open market?

These would be my estimates:

Stainless steel frame $275 to $325.

Stainless steel muzzle loader barrel $175 to $225.

Laminated thumbhole stock $75 to $125

Nikon scope; I don't really know since I've never priced them.

what type of nikon scope. buck masters run $200 and above and prostaff $130 to about $230. and monarch $350 and more.  as a whole rifle sold the gun shop of your choice i would expect half of what you paid. so  i am guessing right at $300. on gbo or auction sites expect around $550 or so. and you could put it on consignment for around that price too. depending on the scope and the condtion of the gun. welcome to gbo and if you sell it on here use the classifieds for encore and contenders!!!!!

I appreciate the info.
From what I find the outfit cost about $900 new, scope and all. I've got considerably less than that in it, with what I traded, and the more I play around with it the more I like it. Think I'll just hold on to it for a while. Maybe get another barrel or three as money becomes available.

Does anybody shoot conicals out of one of these? I've shot sabot rounds out of my other .50 and patched balls out of my .45 smoke pole,  but would like to pour my own, maybe a Lee R.E.A.L bullet. Sure would be cheaper to practice with, but I worry about leading in the barrel.

Any suggestions?

nope sure don't. i use power belts in my 45cal t/c encore with nikon buckmasters scope. i bought it used and i know the pervious owner put over $1200 in it and i got it for $500. so i would expect to sale it for right at that if i did. don't use hammer extensions unless  you want to change the spring to a heaver spring.  but i have heard of a few people using lead conicals but i don't know about making your own. you might find this in the muzzle loading section or the reloading.
