I fully agree about the carrying qualities of the Model 92. As much as I like my W and M 94's, the Marlin 336, and others, I find the 92 fits my hand best. Since I hunt with my 92 in 44-40, I carry along a 44-40 revolver and use the same ammunition in both. It might not be the best choice for boar in thick brush, as I use black powder loads, but it has put venison on my table just as surely as my .264 Magnum. And as Elmer Keith used to say, you can eat all the way up to the hole. I have seen a lot of meat thrown away when some hotshot load ran into a bone, and have seen shooters who are too afraid of the noise and recoil of their guns to practice. I never have had to worry about that with the 44-40.
