Longer forearm...
« on: October 12, 2007, 02:06:44 AM »
I have noticed on a couple pictures of Encore's a much longer forearm...are these custom or just a rifle forearm...can you get them with hanger bars and a sling mount? And can someone describe the "washer trick" to floating a forearm...might try that before I go the hanger bar route...

Tiggere, Most likely they are rifle forends, there are basically 2 ways of attaching a rifle forend to a pistol barrel.  If it is a full bull configuration you have the option of having a 3rd hold drilled/tapped in the barrel for attaching a rifle forend.  Second, is to obtain a hanger bar and modifing a rifle forend to work with the hanger bar, which involves machining a seat for the hanger bar in the forend and drilling a mounting hole in same.  Stratton does the conversions.  Hanger bars are obtainable from either Stratton or Bullberry.

Some guys cut down rifle barrels to handgun length hence, they take a rifle forearm.

I just added a hole to a rifle forearm and it is now ambidextrous.
