Stay Shiny?
« on: October 11, 2007, 12:28:31 PM »
I just finished sanding and polishing my 10/22 barrel and it looks like it is SS never heard of stainless being blued before is this possible or did i just get lucky and get the look i was after ? Also what would you fella's recommend to coat the barrel with for a long term /semi ,maintanance free finish? Right now it has a generous coating of RIG grease on it,but am looking for a more permanent finish. Thanks

Stainless can be blued but is not commonly as its a difficult process. Also steel stainless and chromoly is whitish in color, the rust iss what gives it color. The barrel is likely carbon steel if it was blue. Good luck..
